Meet Our Staff: Dr. Sheena Tianxin Yu, LA.c., Dipl. Ac.

Dr. Sheena Tianxin Yu, L.Ac., Dipl. Ac. (NCBAHM) is a New York State–licensed and nationally certified acupuncturist with a distinctive background that bridges Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern biomedical science. Holding a PhD in Biomedicine and Cancer Biology, she brings a strong foundation in physiology and evidence-based thinking to her clinical practice, supporting a thoughtful and integrative approach to patient care.

Dr. Yu completed her acupuncture training at the Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where she developed strong clinical skills in diagnosis, individualized treatment planning, and a wide range of therapeutic modalities.  Her techniques include cupping, gua sha, tui na (Chinese medical massage), auricular and scalp acupuncture, auricular acupressure, moxibustion, and electrostimulation.

She further expanded her clinical experience at Lumina AcuClinic in North Carolina under the mentorship of Dr. Enhong Yu, where she treated patients with a variety of conditions, including pain disorders, mental health concerns, sleep disturbances, digestive issues, women’s health conditions, and cardiovascular and respiratory disorders.

Dr. Yu has also pursued advanced training in Wang Ju-yi Applied Channel Theory, an approach rooted in both classical Chinese medical texts and modern clinical research. This method emphasizes channel palpation and structural changes as key diagnostic tools, enhancing both precision and treatment effectiveness.

Patients often report that while their primary concern improves, additional symptoms are also alleviated. While Western medicine focuses on treating disease, Traditional Chinese Medicine emphasizes treating the whole person. By integrating both perspectives, Dr. Yu works collaboratively with her patients to identify underlying imbalances and guide the body toward a state of restored harmony and overall well-being.
